Blockbuster Stirling

Posted date 15 July 2009

Green Technology Solutions conducted a trial of our LEDlights tube at a Blockbuster located in Stirling. Based on the typical wattage of the lamps used on-site and the estimated daily operational hours, the total weekly energy consumption for lighting came to 991kW. The annual energy consumption is estimated at 51,526kW. At a nominal 1.2kg of CO2 per kWh, this equates to around 61.8 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.

If the current lamps were replaced with Green Technology Solutions’ LED technology; lighting energy consumption would be reduced overall by around 65.1% to 17,974kW and carbon emissions would be reduced by 40.3 tonnes to 21.6 tonnes.

Assuming an average energy cost of $0.14 per kWh, the total energy reduction would approximatedly be $4,977 per year. The average energy cost was calculated based on the lamps operational hours, majority of lamps operated around 60 hours during peak hours at $0.197 kWh and 38 hours during off-peak hours at $0.11kWh.
